2025-2026 Welsh Information Governance Toolkit Release

Good Afternoon,

We are pleased to confirm that the next iteration of the Welsh Information Governance Toolkit (WIGTK) is now available for completion. Organisations have until 31st of March 2026 to submit their WIGTK form.

The new iteration of the Caforb platform introduces the Achievement Status Checker Page, which publicly displays each organisation’s achievement status. Should you require further information, this can be found here: Achievement Status Checker Page Guidance.

Support and guidance for organisations is available on the WIGTK website, including bitesize videos, the user guide, and the FAQ page. Furthermore, there are also new additions to the website, such as the stakeholder ‘Onboarding Form’, the ‘Submit a Query or Request a Call Back’ option and ‘Caforb Release Notes’. A link to the WIGTK website can be found here: IG Toolkit Page.

Additionally, following stakeholder feedback, the Toolkit Team have implemented reference numbers to each question of the WIGTK. On the Caforb platform, you will now be able to visually see each reference number above all questions. However, it is important to note, that the WIGTK form accommodates all organisations and questions in a single structure. As a result, certain questions may not be relevant to your organisation type and will be automatically excluded, which will lead to omissions in consecutive question numbering.

Important note for organisations who utilise Parent and Child relationships (Pharmacy groups, Prison Health and specific Health Boards): Unfortunately, the copy down feature which enables answers and evidence of the Parent organisation to be copied down to Child organisations, has been temporarily disabled and is currently not available for use. The Software Development Team is actively working to resolve the issues and restore full functionality as soon as possible. A further communication regarding this will be sent in due course.

We would like to extend our apologies for the delay in the release of the 2025/2026 WIGTK and the inconvenience this may have caused, your patience and understanding during this time has been greatly appreciated.

Should you have any queries in relation to any element of this email or the WIGTK, please contact the team via email on WelshIGToolkit@wales.nhs.uk or alternatively utilise our new Submit a Query/Request a Call Back form.
