Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW) officially launched one year ago today, becoming NHS Wales’ organisation for digital, data and technology.
In its first year, DHCW has continued to play a crucial part in NHS Wales’ response to the pandemic, alongside providing operational services that are transforming the way healthcare is delivered.
Key milestones in DHCW’s first year include:
The move to Cloud Services and a new Data Centre
The launch of the new Welsh Emergency Department System
The launch of the new Hospital Pharmacy System
The roll out of the Welsh Nursing Care Record (WNCR) across Wales
These milestones and more are captured in our infographic below that celebrates one year of momentous achievement.
Helen Thomas, CEO, said: “I regard myself as extremely fortunate to lead ‘team DHCW’, and to work with people who are so dedicated and prepared to go the extra mile. I genuinely believe that what we have achieved in our first year has been remarkable and is truly worth celebrating.
“Looking ahead over the next 12 months, I know we can complete more remarkable work and realise the potential to make digital services integral to every aspect of health and care in Wales.”
