Implementing a digital alternative to a complex, paper-based process needs time, expertise, and support. For Suzanne Crompton and the Occupational Therapy department at Hywel Dda University Health Board, they had just that: the specialist help of the NHS Wales Microsoft 365 Centre of Excellence team, who solve clinical and operational challenges for teams across NHS Wales by developing efficient digital solutions.
As of April 2022, the clinical document audit at Hywel Dda’s Occupational Therapy department is now completely online. Clinicians are automatically reminded about audits and can instantly submit their responses, and the central auditing team can easily record and track progress with a regularly updated data dashboard. As a result of these changes, the department was able to successfully reduce its auditing time from its average of 6 – 9 months to just 1.
