Helen Thomas, Chief Executive of Digital Health and Care Wales (DHCW), and Ifan Evans, Executive Director of Strategy at DHCW, have been named finalists in the Digital Leader of the Year category of the 2024 Digital Leaders 100 (DL100) Awards.
The DL100 list celebrates the people and teams leading digital transformation across the UK. A panel of judges selected ten finalists for each of the ten categories, forming the DL100 list. They will now choose an overall winner for each category while the public can vote for their favourite in the People’s Choice Awards.
You can vote for Helen Thomas or Ifan Evans to win the People's Choice Award on the Digital Leaders 100 website.
Helen’s nomination highlights her passion for being a role model for staff, especially for women. She is a Fellow of the British Computer Society (BCS), which recognises IT leaders who innovate and inspire the next generation. Helen supports staff in gaining professional registration and membership through the BCS and FEDIP (Federation of Informatics Professionals). She also engages with university students and recently led a session on digital transformation for the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, where she is a Professor of Practice.
Upon learning of being a finalist, Helen said: “It's an honour to be named a finalist alongside Ifan Evans for Digital Leader of the Year on the 2024 DL100 list. This recognition reflects the hard work and dedication of the entire team at DHCW. I’m especially proud to champion the development of future leaders and to support our staff in their professional growth. We're committed to driving forward digital transformation to benefit healthcare professionals and our communities across Wales.”
Ifan’s nomination recognises his leadership in promoting digital transformation across the health and care system in Wales. Ifan uses his academic and professional insight to advocate for digital as an enabler and a driver of change, and for using data and information to improve the quality of health and care services.
On being shortlisted, Ifan said: “It’s a privilege to be named a finalist in the Digital Leader of the Year category on this year’s Digital Leaders 100 list. This nomination reflects the ongoing commitment to using digital tools and data to improve health and care services in Wales. I’m passionate about ensuring digital transformation is a key driver of positive change across the sector, and I’m proud of the work our teams continue to do to make this vision a reality.”
The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Manchester on October 17th, 2024.
