GPs welcome digital test results

The use of electronic test requesting in GP practices is growing, with more practices taking the system on board over the last year.

The GP test requesting (GPTR) system allows staff at GP practices to request blood tests for their patients electronically,  and gives GPs a fuller picture of their patients.

Ann-Marie Cunningham, a GP in Caerphilly County,  and Associate Medical Director for Primary Care in the Informatics Service explained,

“Any clinical details included with the request will be included in the results report, improving the quality of information, and giving the clinician a fuller picture of the patient”

Health professionals can view results from both primary and secondary care, anywhere in Wales, and with thousands of blood tests being performed in Wales every week, GPTR is helping to process requests and results quicker.
