NHS Wales Informatics Service recognised for commitment to valuing staff

NWIS has become the first NHS organisation in the UK to hold both the BS76000 Valuing People and the new BS76005 Diversity and Inclusion Standard.

These are both awarded by the British Standards Institution (BSI).

We became the first to achieve the Valuing People Standard last year and after a re-assessment in November retained the certification. The core principle of the standard is that people are inherently valuable and should be treated as such. This way, both employees and the organisation can benefit from an equal, more sustainable working relationship.

The Diversity and Inclusion Standard builds upon these principles to include embracing diversity, preventing discrimination and building an inclusive working culture. This has been achieved a year earlier than projected.

“We have some great practices around valuing people and diversity and inclusion which have been recognised by the achievement of these two standards. These standards are all about our staff and developing the organisation to be the best it can be.” says Sarah Brooks, Workforce and Organisational Development Manager at NHS Wales Informatics Service.
