On 24 March COVID-19 generic shielding letters were issued to 86,000 Welsh patients, classified as vulnerable. Due to a processing error, a number of those letters were posted to a previous address. The letters did not contain any personal medical information.
All letters have now been reissued to the correct address.
We sincerely apologise to all those affected and any concern this may have caused.
Contact details processed for local authorities contained the correct contact details from the outset, and they have been directly contacting each person involved over the past two weeks. Supermarkets also received the correct addresses and have been using these to prioritise delivery slots for people shielding.
We have reported the matter to the Information Commissioner’s Office.
