Familes and children in Hywel Dda University Health Board are the latest to benefit from a new Child Health Information System, the Children and Young Persons Integrated System (known as CYPrIS).
The CYPrIS application, developed by NHS Wales Informatics Service, ensures that every child in Wales has an active care record.
It supports a variety of public health-related activities and includes comprehensive functionality for National Childhood Immunisation, Healthy Child Wales and Child Measurement programmes. CYPrIS provides information about individual children's health (which can be useful during an outbreak of a disease for which some children may need to be immunised) and also a population-perspective to enable effective targeting of services.
In addition to the core CYPrIS application a Web version is available to support Clinicians in decision making and their day to day work by providing them with a read only view of a patient record. Clinicians in Aneurin Bevan, Cardiff and Vale, Cwm Taf and Swansea Bay health boards are already using CYPrIS and have given positive feedback about it.
Remaining health boards - Powys and Betsi Cadwaladr - will go live in 2020. The application will be developed further to include key interfaces to exchange information to GP Systems and the Welsh Care Community Information System (WCCIS).
