Annual Governance Statement: Accountable Officer of the Special Health Authority
The Welsh Ministers have directed that the Chief Executive should be the Accountable Officer to the Special Health Authority (SHA).
The responsibilities of Accountable Officers—including propriety and regularity of public finances and the maintenance of proper records—are detailed in the Accountable Officer’s Memorandum issued by the Welsh Government.
I can confirm that:
- To the best of my knowledge, there is no relevant audit information of which the entity’s auditors are unaware.
- I, as the Accountable Officer, have taken all necessary steps to make myself aware of any relevant audit information and have ensured that the entity’s auditors are also aware of this information.
- The DHCW Annual Report and Accounts as a whole are fair, balanced and understandable. I take personal responsibility for the report and the judgments required to determine this.
- The Accountable Officer is responsible for authorising the issue of the financial statements on the date they were certified by the Auditor General for Wales.
- To the best of my knowledge and belief, I have properly discharged the responsibilities set out in my letter of appointment as an Accountable Officer.
